Finally, a Monday Night Brewing beer

I’m in Savannah for a conference and the bar by my hotel is the first place I’ve come across a Monday Night Brewing beer in the wild. It was only available in a can with a plastic cup, but I’m pleased to report that this IPA snob was very pleased with the Blind Pirate (Blood orange IPA).

I came across Monday Night Brewing when it was just one of the other home brew blogs in the 2000’s. It was fun to watch them bloom through the stages of home brewing, then take the significant leap into craft brewing.

Nearly two decades is a long time to wait, but I’m hoping to find a few more – hopefully on tap – while I’m in Georgia.

A can of Blind Pirate IPA. I enjoyed it more than the Juicy IPA on the coaster that it’s sitting on.

Map of 2012 Craft Beer-ness

After a delay, I finally noticed a post from Linds regarding this NYT interactive map of Craft Brewing. The data are from 2012, but it’s still an interesting ecosystem that seems to ignore the trend of larger mergers and acquisitions. My attention to the craft industry has waned a little in the last couple years, but I’m not surprised by the number of new pubs opening. Good luck, young upstarts!
